How often does the Board of Adjustment meet?
The Board of Adjustment meets only as needed, usually two to three times each year.

What kind of applications does the Board of Adjustment hear?
The Board of Adjustment hears and decides appeals from requirements, decisions, or determinations made by an administrative official. The Board also hears applications for variances due to practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship resulting from enforcement of:

  1. Minimum area of lot
  2. Minimum width of lot
  3. Maximum height of building
  4. Minimum front yard
  5. Minimum side yard
  6. Minimum rear yard
  7. Minimum off-street parking requirements
  8. Minimum landscape requirements

How many members are on the Board of Adjustment?
The board consists of five members; one member from the Planning Commission, one member from the Board of Trustees, and 3 members appointed by the Board of Trustees.

How long is a Board of Adjustment term?
Board members serve for a period of three years. There is currently a vacancy on the Board. If you have been a Monument resident for at least one year, you are eligible to apply.
