Communication & Cooperation Creates Community

A Citizens Guide to Code Enforcement

Our Town Codes play an important role in protecting the health, safety and welfare of Monument’s citizens.

Code Enforcement’s mission is to promote community thru communication, education and cooperation with residents and business owners.

Codes help to maintain the attractive appearance of our residential neighborhoods, business districts and commercial enterprises, having a positive impact on property value.

Enforcement

Voluntary compliance is always Code Enforcement's goal. The Codes are administered in a fair and equitable manner.

A verbal warning will be given, when possible, before a written Notice of Violation is posted for property violations. Failure to comply with a Notice of Violation may result in an abatement of the violation and/or a Summons and Complaint to Monument Municipal Court. Vehicles in violation may also be towed at the owner’s expense.

Citizens are encouraged to take an active role in local government by attending the various community meetings, visiting Town Hall and interacting with Town employees.

The purpose of this Citizen’s Guide is to familiarize residents and visitors with just a few of our Town Codes and the enforcement process. More detailed information is available by contacting Code Enforcement.
