ABOUT OUR JUDGE

Judge John Ciccolella presides over the sessions of the Municipal Court. Judge Ciccolella is a licensed Attorney at Law who is permitted to maintain a private law practice while serving as a Municipal Judge on a part-time basis.

Municipal Court Judges are appointed by the Monument Board of Trustees and serves a three-year term. Daily management of the Court is the responsibility of the Court Clerk/Administrator. Communication with Judge Ciccolella about specific cases is permitted only on the record in open Court.

The Town Board of Trustees may appoint one or more associate judges who perform duties as directed by the presiding judge. The presiding judge recommends appointment of the associate judges to the Town Board of Trustees. The pro tem judges are appointed by the presiding judge and hear matters in the absence of the presiding judge or associate judge.
